Nikon announce the release of the Nikon D5500, a DX-format digital SLR camera.
The world’s smallest, lightest, and slimmest digital SLR camera, and the first Nikon digital SLR camera to be equipped with a touch screen vari-angle monitor and built-in Wi-Fi® function.
The D5500 is the world’s smallest, lightest*1, and slimmest digital SLR camera, and the first Nikon digital SLR camera to be equipped with a touch screen vari-angle LCD monitor that supports intuitive touch operation as well as a built-in Wi-Fi® function. The D5500 offers superior image quality and rich reproduction capabilities for excellent detail with an effective pixel count of 24.2-million pixels, a Nikon DX-format CMOS sensor, and the EXPEED 4 image-processing engine.
Adoption of a monocoque structure made of a carbon-fiber composite material*2, and a completely new layout for the internal structure have achieved a smaller, lighter, and slimmer camera while preserving great strength and durability. In addition, the slimmer body makes for a deeper grip that provides a firmer, steadier hold as well as superior portability.
The D5500 supports a broad range of standard sensitivities, from ISO 100 to 25600, for superior image quality that is stable and reliable, even with shooting in dimly lit situations. What’s more, Super Vivid, Pop, and Photo Illustration options have been added to Special Effects mode, one of the functions that supports the rich power of expression possible with the D5500 with selection and specification of a variety of effects with shooting, making photography even more fun.
